Turkey Book Talk episode #133 – Mostafa Minawi, associate professor of history at Cornell University and senior fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study at Central European University, on “The Ottoman Scramble for Africa: Empire and Diplomacy in the Sahara and the Hijaz” (Stanford University Press)

The book describes the Ottoman Empire’s expansionist efforts in Africa and Arabia in the late 19th century by taking part in the Conference of Berlin, as it sought inclusion in the top ranks of European powers.
